Assisted routes may pass through service corridors, freight lifts, staff-only doors and hidden waiting areas, with long periods of uncertainty. Assisted travel is about more than ramps or wheelchairs; it is about dignity, being listened to and being supported without feeling like an inconvenience. Airports and airlines have made progress, but delays, damaged mobility equipment, poor communication and inaccessible routes remain. Having experienced assisted travel, my perspective changed completely.
